“Pride in America Doesn’t Just Happen. It Has to Be Taught.”

My granddaughter Harper is 7 years old. Recently we discovered she is a direct descendant of a Revolutionary War Patriot.

That’s why I’m fighting to make civics a mandatory requirement in every Wisconsin public school, not an optional add-on. Wisconsin AB 4 would do exactly that. It passed the Assembly. The Senate killed it. I’m going to Madison to finish the job.

Restoring Wisconsin means restoring pride in what Wisconsin students learn. Jon holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and built EdTech companies for 24 years. He knows the difference between a system that produces well-rounded and thoughtful citizens and one that produces test-takers.

  • Fight to pass Wisconsin Assembly Bill 4 requiring civics instruction covering the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the rights of American citizens; citizenship in every public school.

  • Social Studies should never take a back seat to reading and math. However, these subjects are an opportunity to take pride in our heritage.

“During the 4th of July celebration of 250 years as a nation, Mary, our granddaughter Harper Aleckson Smith, and I attended a DAR presentation at the Monroe Library. We learned Harper is a direct descendant of James Wright of Connecticut, a Revolutionary War Patriot. That is not guilt. That is inheritance. That is pride. Every Wisconsin student deserves to feel it.”
